Botox injections work by blocking particular chemical signals from nerves, most of which cause muscles to contract. These injections are most commonly used to temporarily relax the facial muscles that create creases in the forehead and around the eyes.

What is it?

Botox, or Botulinum Toxin is a very popular method of getting rid of wrinkles and fine lines. It’ a temporary muscle relaxer which works by reducing muscle movement in the face, thus giving
smoother and much more youthful appearance as well as preventing the development of further
wrinkles.

Botox is often used as a preventative measure in order to slow down the process of ageing. Theseeffects can last from anywhere between 3-6 months before muscle activity returns to the face.
Following an initial consultation, your practitioner will use a very fine needle to inject Botox intothe target area, which then takes approximately 1-2 weeks to settle and eventually relax the muscle. For the best and lasting results botox treatments are advised to be completed over 3 month intervals.
